Smart cities based on IoT are the future; and intelligent, connected buildings play an important role in such a citywide IoT network.

“Smart buildings that currently function as autonomous islands will in time become hubs in a broad, urban IoT network”, says MCS CEO Koen Matthijs. “Connected buildings will even be able to function as virtual power stations.  This will positively impact energy efficiency and help urban renewal. Forward-looking cities like Antwerp are therefore investing resources to facilitate this transition.”
